Retro Rave - Entrance (2021)

The initial entrance design for Retro Rave's indoor version was inspired by one of the most significant elements of the theme: the neon grid pathway. When designing this space, the goal was to create an entrance that would transport the audience into the “Retro Rave” world our team had created.

The design of the entrance was also intended to be like a trailer or the event's opening, showcasing some of the significant elements of 80s retro-futurism, such as neon grids, sunsets, signboards, racing cars, cacti, and pyramids.

In keeping with the theme of diversity and internationalism, I incorporated my culture into the design by changing the signboards to 80s Taiwanese classic signboards, adding an extra layer of cultural diversity.

Additionally, I wanted to include the concept of the “Naihe Bridge” in the design. Since Halloween is a Western holiday associated with ghosts, Naihe Bridge is a way Asians, particularly the Chinese, reference ghost-related ideas. Naihe Bridge is also a pathway that leads dead people to another world.
